About Me

Hi, I’m Sam. I’m a Licensed Independent Social Worker in South Carolina and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in North Carolina. I’m also a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), supporting emerging clinicians on their path to licensure and personal and professional blooming.

With over 11 years of experience in the field of behavioral health, I bring both clinical expertise and lived experience to my work. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating substance use, recovery, trauma, anxiety, and life transitions, offering a grounded and neuroscience-informed approach to healing.

I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Carolina in 2015 and my Bachelor of Science from the College of Charleston in 2013. I’ve worked in a variety of settings and levels of care—from ER down to private practice. I practice with an experiential approach married with a deep 'geeking out' in the neuroscience behind recovery and the ways we numb and disconnect to cope.

How I Support You

At Schweitzer Services, our work centers around helping you build a relationship with yourself—one rooted in curiosity, safety, and compassion. We shift the focus inward, moving from reacting to life’s circumstances to developing a sense of internal regulation and resilience. We integrate brain-based tools and psychoeducation to help you “hack” your nervous system and make sustainable healing more accessible. Recovery becomes not just possible, but deeply personal and empowering. I personally also just really believe in comedic relief as a tool in our relationship and sessions.

My Own Recovery Journey

Coming from a family system impacted by substance use, I found my own recovery path early—before those around me began theirs. That experience was profoundly empowering and showed me the impact of doing my own work. My healing journey has included traditional talk therapy, couples work, EMDR, energy work, and experiential therapy to address trauma, anxiety, and panic attacks —and it continues to inform the compassionate, attuned way I hold space for others.

A Little More About Me

Outside of work, I’m a mom to a joyful little girl and a very energetic Doberman. My husband and I are passionate foodies—we love to cook, bake, and explore new flavors together. Travel and time outdoors help keep me grounded and connected to what matters most.
